Melaka Calling

They say visiting Melaka is not complete without taking 45 minutes river cruise down the Melaka river, and guess I did not complete my visit there. My first stop was St Paul’s church.  The ruins of St Paul’s church stand on the summit of St Paul’s hill. It was originally a chapel built by a Portuguese Sea Captain and later the Dutch renamed it as St Paul church.

Another stop was Jonker Street, a popular spot where you can find clothes, fashion accessories and definitely souvenirs and the best place to hunt and bargain for antiques.  We had the amazing lunch in one shop house restaurant at Jonker Street, of course the Melaka delectable Nonya cuisine. My favorite is Otak Otak , a fish cake made with fish fillet, a lot of spices and my favorite coconut milk.

After lunch, we went for a walk around the river and visited both the Middleburg Bastion and the maritime museum located along Melaka River. Just as we were exhausted by the heat and the walk, we did cancel our plan to visit Menara Taming Sari to enjoy the panoramic views of Melaka. On our way back to KL, our kind driver brought us to this shop, and I have to admit, I can’t stop eating just one vegetable siew pow, lol!!!
