Vientiane At A Glance - 3

That Dam

I gained like a kilo during my very short trip to Vientiane, mainly due to spending too much time eating. Well, It took me 2 weeks to weigh myself and of course, I did not want to know the truth. I felt heavier and I am heavier than usual. However, food wouldn’t weigh on my mind so much and thus I will keep on eating, and dreaming of eating. By the way, I have this (naughty) habit, browsing the recipe in the net before I fell asleep, and I wonder why I don’t look slender over and over again. OK, let’s move on to my delicious post, I mean my Vientiane post. By evening, I had visited That Dam (Black Stupa), met my other half’s colleague, strolled around the city, Mekong River and had a delectable meal at Nazim Restaurant. Same as always, I write down how much it costs, and it is approximately 15 dollars for dinner. After that, it was still early to go back to hotel, said my other half, and thus we headed to the roadside café, where we had a fruit juice, iced tea and potatoes chips as an appetizer.

Vientiane At A Glance - 2

Unlike any other trip, we decide to visit the tourist attractions first, that is to say, visit the temples and do the ritual later, which is clearly “shopping and eating”. The irony is that the famous Pha That Luang was closed that afternoon and thus we successfully looked the surrounding walkways, the souvenir shops, and other temples near Pha That Luang. My blogging officially sucks, well, I don’t remember the name of the temples: everything that I could mention in my post had not been mentioned due to my inability or lack of observation. To sum up that afternoon, we had lunch at one coffee shop, which closes on Sunday, as far as I recall. The name of the shop? I couldn’t remember, so sorry for my absentmindedness when it comes to the name.  Judging from the pictures, we apparently had Thai dish and latte (what a cliché) and I paid 185 Bahts (6 USD) for the meal. Humm? Reputedly, I wrote down all the expenses and this is how it is to be a mingy person, lol!!!!

Vientiane At A Glance - 1

My Oh My, where have I been? Well, nowhere and somewhere. I was stuck in the city of no-joy and have not been healthy, mostly mentally. Don’t worry, I was not admitted to anywhere. My last post was written a few weeks ago and I felt like ages. Blogosphere, here I come, with the usual pictures without any wit. It is about the trip to Vientiane, which is not extraordinary by the way, with my other half last year. My stingy self forced us to go there by train, and thus I got the chance to take those ordinary pictures. We decided to have dinner @ Hong Kong Noodle, conveniently situated opposite Hua Lamphong station. The food was not particularly delicious as I expected, may be I chose their infamous menu, but I couldn’t complain much due to location. The train left from Hua Lamphong station @ 8 p.m. and arrived to Nong Khai the next day @ 10:30 a.m. instead of 8.30 a.m. Then it took us an hour and half from Nong Khai - Thai Immigration - Lao Immigration – to Vientiane. You can look into the visa requirement here in case you want to go there. For those who love to travel by train, here is web for you to check out the route and price. Hope you all like this post and thank you so much for visiting this blog.
